Floripa and Búzios

Work is crazy during the week, but we always make the weekends worth it. We went to Rio during Carnaval and didnt sleep for about 5 days. It was a great time and we met some super dope people. During this Rio trip we decided to rent a car and drive "2" hours to Búzios. Well the drive there was fine, but the drive back in a tiny car without air conditioning in 110º weather in stop and go traffic for 5 hours turned out to be what i imagine Hell to be like. Búzios was worth it though and the little stop in Saquarema was great too. The next week we went to Florianópolis which was incredible. I love Floripa. Great beaches, super chill, and great food. My favorite part was right after sandboarding we went across the street to shower off and the showers are run by this British dude. We start talking to him and he ends up telling us that he found the Arc of the Covenant in Floripa and that he needs our help. Also that he is being held prisoner by the reggae men and being forced to write music. Also that he has Star Wars dreams and George Lucas is a Prophet. He told us all of this while staring at something and plucking random strings on his guitar in his safari hat. So dope.

Búzios


Yes, Búzios is gorgeous

Curitiba, PR

Last week Ben and I took a little Sunday trip to Curitiba. I find myself falling in love with every place we visit. Its ridiculous. This city is a planned modern city and i was extremely impressed by the cleanliness and structure of it. If there was a beach there, i wouldnt think twice about moving there. I have a bunch more photos from there that will be displayed at my show in SLC in May.

BRASIL

As some of you may know, I'm working for Azul Airlines in São Paulo, Brasil in their marketing dept. It´s way sweeeet. It is kinda scary taking my cam to some places and shooting in the streets, but I was able to get a few shots off that I liked. I am probably not going to put too many photos from Brasil on here because when I come back to Salt Lake in May, I plan on having a show for my stuff. But here is a little bit of what i have.

FINALS

Coming into finals week could not be more stressful, and to top it off, it is freezing outside. There is a fresh batch of snow, and because im leaving for Brazil i didn't get a season pass which puts me in a terrible mood. I can't handle not snowboarding. Im kinda freaking out inside. I think that everything will be great once finals are over, but then i think "i still haven't found an apartment, or bought my flight, and i dont know how much scrills the HIP is giving me". So thats my ranting and venting. These are a few pictures that i did for my photo final, in the composition section. I guess i am going to the zuriick sample sale now, which should be great. Then back to the lib for more hours of studying. But, here in a month i will be strutting on Copacabana Beach in a man-thong, so thats something great to look forward to.

I just finished my final photo project, which was actually more stressful than i thought it would be. This section was actually the most difficult which was imitating another photographer. I chose to imitate Jeff Wall, but only in one of his strategies, which is to create an image after a phrase, poem, story, etc. So i chose song lyrics or titles. kinda cheesy but whatever. you're lame too.

Leprechaun Shoes

I went downtown yesterday to take pictures with some of those who spend their nights on the streets on SLC. This is actually something i have been wanting to do for a few years, but i kept getting scared. Even when i was walking around the homeless shelter, it took me a little to work up the courage to talk to some people. What is interesting is that we look at the homeless as such aliens, but i was so surprised at how articulate and real they were. The first guy i shot, Jim, was very quiet. Whereas i was talking to Craig and his friends for about 20 mins before i even started shooting. It was interesting to try to understand a little bit of how the world looks through their eyes. I found it a very rewarding experience and plan on doing it again. I was wearing these bright green vans, and these guys kept giving me crap for them. One guy was like "you aint gettin nowhere with those leprechaun shoes".
