I went downtown yesterday to take pictures with some of those who spend their nights on the streets on SLC. This is actually something i have been wanting to do for a few years, but i kept getting scared. Even when i was walking around the homeless shelter, it took me a little to work up the courage to talk to some people. What is interesting is that we look at the homeless as such aliens, but i was so surprised at how articulate and real they were. The first guy i shot, Jim, was very quiet. Whereas i was talking to Craig and his friends for about 20 mins before i even started shooting. It was interesting to try to understand a little bit of how the world looks through their eyes. I found it a very rewarding experience and plan on doing it again. I was wearing these bright green vans, and these guys kept giving me crap for them. One guy was like "you aint gettin nowhere with those leprechaun shoes".

maybe los angeles
I was in LA this past week for work, which was exhausting. Working 12 hours during the day just to go back to the hotel to write papers and finish quizzes. I liked it though. Fortunately i had a little time to walk around and shoot a little bit. Wednesday night i roamed into a parking garage and asked a latino with a tear drop tattoo if it was cool if i shot in there. He was cool with it, but i was even more scared of the groups of thugs chillin in there. Yesterday on the way to the airport i noticed that there is like a whole block covered in graffiti like a block away from the convention center where i was working. Soooo bummed. Oh well.
staples center and my hotelme and this kid i work with decided we were going to turn this building into a techno dance club called "unce unce"
